The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is the self-regulatory organisation (SRO) of the advertising industry in the United Kingdom. The ASA is a non-statutory organisation and so cannot interpret or enforce legislation. However, its code of advertising practice broadly reflects legislation in many instances. The ASA is not funded by the British Government, but by a levy on the advertising industry.
Its role is to "regulate the content of advertisements, sales promotions and direct marketing in the UK" by investigating "complaints made about ads, sales promotions or direct marketing", and deciding whether such advertising complies with its advertising standards codes. These codes stipulate that "before distributing or submitting a marketing communication for publication, marketers must hold documentary evidence to prove all claims, whether direct or implied, that are capable of objective substantiation"and that "no marketing communication should mislead, or be likely to mislead, by inaccuracy, ambiguity, exaggeration, omission or otherwise".

Unit 18B - Task 1 - Advertising my product
The Product that i will be advertising will be a new fragrance that i have come up with, named 'Innocence' by Lucy's Cosmetics. The colour schemes which i wish to use is dark colours, such as black and purple. The reason i have gone for such dark colours is because i wanted it to contrast with the fragrance name and the word 'Innocence' would give the impression of floral pastel colours. The smell of the fragrance will be sweet to represent the fragrance name.

UNIT 18B - Task 2
Sample Client Advertising Proposal
Date: 9th March
To: Advertisement Coordination-Head
From: Lucy Tredgett, Lucy Cosmetics Ltd
Subject: Sample Client Advertising Proposal
Proposal submitted on: 9th March
We would like to introduce to you our client advertising proposal for the new fragrance ‘Innocence’. The proposal will be for all our existing and prospective clients proposing an advertisement plan for marketing regulation of our new fragrance release.
We are hoping to achieve to sell a high amount of the fragrance for the future, as if this is ‘good seller’ we will be willing to release more.
They have certified that the product is a lasting long aroma, which means 1 spray will be plenty! This also means that the bottle will last you long!
We have planned to advertise our fragrance in a variety of different ways, with a budget of approximately £25,000. We are planning to advertise our fragrance through beauty magazines, everyday magazines, and television ads. The reason we are planning to do advertise through these types of media is because we hope for ‘Innocence’ to grab our target audience’s attention, being for girls, with a age range of 13+. We will also be giving away a free bag when the product is bought for a thank you for buying our product!
We would much appreciate if the proposal acceptance is received before the 10th of February.
Yours Faithfully,
Lucy Tredgett
